Target Information
ASAP1, also known as Development and differentiation enhancing factor 1, is a protein containing two ANK repeats, an Arf-GAP domain, a PH domain, and a SH3 domain.
ASAP1 forms homodimers and interacts with SRC and CRK, with activity stimulated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2).
It exhibits PIP2-dependent GTPase-activating protein activity for ARF1 and ARF5, with lesser activity toward ARF6.
ASAP1 may coordinate membrane trafficking with cell growth or actin cytoskeleton remodeling, functioning in signal transduction processes such as fibroblast differentiation into adipocytes.
It is widely expressed in most tissues and is considered a proto-oncogene involved in invasive breast cancer and other malignant tumors, including uveal melanomas.
