Target Information
THOC5 is a component of the THO subcomplex within the TREX complex. The TREX complex associates specifically with spliced mRNA and is crucial for mRNA export. It binds upstream of the exon-junction complex (EJC) and is recruited in a splicing- and cap-dependent manner to the 5′ end of mRNA. The TREX complex facilitates export of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) intronless mRNAs via interactions between THOC4 and viral ORF57 protein. UAP56 bridges THOC4 and the THO complex. THOC5, together with THOC4, is involved in NXF1-NXT1 mediated nuclear export of HSP70 mRNA and may play roles in granulocyte and adipocyte differentiation.
