Target Information

ASAP1 (Development and differentiation enhancing factor 1) is a protein containing two ANK repeats, an Arf-GAP domain, a PH domain, and an SH3 domain. It forms a homodimer and interacts with SRC and CRK, with activity stimulated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2). ASAP1 exhibits GTPase-activating protein activity for ARF1 and ARF5, and lesser activity for ARF6. It may coordinate membrane trafficking with cell growth or actin cytoskeleton remodeling and functions as a signal transduction protein involved in fibroblast differentiation into adipocytes and other cell types. It is widely expressed and recognized as a proto-oncogene implicated in invasive breast cancer and other malignant tumors, including uveal melanomas.
