Target Information
ASAP1, also known as Development and Differentiation Enhancing Factor 1, is a protein containing two ANK repeats, an Arf-GAP domain, a PH domain, and an SH3 domain.
It functions as a homodimer interacting with SRC and CRK, with activity stimulated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2).
ASAP1 exhibits PIP2-dependent GTPase-activating protein activity for ARF1 and ARF5, and to a lesser extent for ARF6.
It may coordinate membrane trafficking with cell growth or actin cytoskeleton remodeling and is involved in fibroblast differentiation into adipocytes.
ASAP1 is widely expressed and acts as a proto-oncogene implicated in invasive breast cancer and other malignant tumors, including uveal melanomas.
