Target Information
CPA1 (Carboxypeptidase A1, also known as CPA) is a 419-amino-acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue.
It functions as a pancreatic exopeptidase using zinc as a cofactor to catalyze the release of C-terminal amino acids from various proteins, playing a key role in protein digestion and degradation.
CPA1 may also act in zymogen inhibition, blocking enzyme activation pathways.
Abnormal CPA1 levels are associated with pancreatic cancer, suggesting involvement in tumor progression or suppression.
