Target Information
CPA1 (Carboxypeptidase A1), also known as CPA, is a 419 amino acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue. It functions as a zinc-dependent pancreatic exopeptidase that catalyzes the release of C-terminal amino acids from proteins, playing a key role in protein digestion and degradation. CPA1 activity is also implicated in zymogen inhibition, potentially regulating enzyme activation pathways. Abnormal CPA1 levels have been linked to pancreatic cancer, suggesting involvement in tumor progression or suppression.
