Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are composed predominantly of three major subunits: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H.
NF-L (light subunit) has a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa and plays a key role in maintaining neuronal caliber.
NF-M and NF-H represent the medium and heavy subunits, respectively, with NF-H running at 180–220 kDa on SDS-PAGE gels depending on species.
The expression of these neuronal intermediate filament proteins is both tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
