Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are composed predominantly of three major proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H. These proteins are involved in the maintenance of neuronal caliber.
NF-L represents the light or low molecular weight subunit (~70 kDa), while NF-H is the heavy subunit (180–220 kDa). The expression of these neuronal intermediate filament proteins is both tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
