This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IL17F.

Target Information

IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family, produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils.
It is involved in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils.
IL-17F may exist as a homodimer or a heterodimer with IL-17A and binds to the IL-17R receptor, promoting monocyte and neutrophil recruitment through chemokine production.
It also stimulates pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
TGF-β and IL-23 are required for induction and maintenance of Th17 cells, which produce IL-17 family cytokines.
IL-17F inhibits angiogenesis and induces endothelial cells to produce IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1.
