Target Information
The CDH7 gene encodes a type II classical cadherin, a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Type II cadherins lack the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence characteristic of type I cadherins. These molecules mediate homophilic cell–cell binding, contributing to tissue organization and maintenance. Alternative splicing in the 5′ UTR yields variant transcripts encoding the same protein.
