This antibody recognizes the extracellular portion of CD158d / KIR2DL4, a 45 kDa NK cell marker. Cell surface expression and function of CD158d / KIR2DL4 depend on the genotype of individual donors.
Target Information
CD158d / KIR2DL4 is a member of the KIR family that shares structural features with both activating and inhibitory receptors, mediating different functions depending on context. It contains a cytoplasmic ITIM motif suggesting inhibitory function, but also a transmembrane domain similar to activating KIRs.
CD158d serves as an inhibitory receptor for peripheral and uterine NK cells; however, ligation with soluble mAbs can activate IFN-gamma secretion. It binds both membrane-bound and soluble forms of its ligand HLA-G.
