Product Specific Information
This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotypes on natural NK cells.
For Immunohistochemistry (Frozen), acetone fixation is recommended.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G (IgG). It is involved in immune complex clearance, cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and enhancement of viral infection responses.
The gene FCGR3A is located on chromosome 1 and shares high similarity with FCGR3B.
- FCGR3A: expressed on NK cells, membrane-anchored via transmembrane peptide
- FCGR3B: expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN), anchored via phosphatidylinositol linkage
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with:
- Immunodeficiency 20
- Increased susceptibility to recurrent viral infections
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Alloimmune neonatal neutropenia
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
