This P1D6 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD49e (integrin alpha 5). Integrins are cell surface receptors mediating cell–cell and cell–matrix adhesion, composed of α and β subunits. Integrin α5 is expressed on thymocytes, T cells, monocytes, platelets, and early/activated B cells, as well as on non-hematopoietic and cancer cells. It participates in adhesion, signaling, and apoptosis, forming a fibronectin receptor with β1 subunit after cleavage.
