Target Information
HFE2는 철 대사(iron metabolism)에 관여하며, hepcidin 활성화 신호 경로의 구성 요소이거나 hepcidin 발현의 조절 인자로 작용할 수 있습니다. 또한 hepcidin의 세포 수용체 역할을 할 가능성도 있습니다.
이 유전자의 다양한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 전사 변이체가 확인되었으며, HFE2 유전자 결함은 juvenile hemochromatosis (JH, hemochromatosis type 2A)의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다. JH는 심각한 철 과부하로 인해 발생하는 조기 발병 상염색체 열성 질환으로, 성선기능저하증, 간 섬유화 또는 간경변, 심근병증 등을 유발하며 일반적으로 30세 이전에 발현됩니다.
