Target Information

Macrophage receptor that binds apolipoprotein B48 (APOB) of dietary triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL) or similar domains of APOB in hypertriglyceridemic very low-density lipoprotein (HTG-VLDL).
This receptor binds and internalizes TRL outside the macrophage context, possibly supplying essential lipids to reticuloendothelial cells.
It may also participate in foam cell formation under elevated TRL and remnant lipoprotein (RLP) conditions.
Mediates rapid, high-affinity uptake of chylomicrons (CM), HTG-VLDL, and trypsinized VLDL lacking APOE in vitro in macrophages.
