Target Information
Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is a scaffolding protein located within caveolar membranes. It interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits to regulate their activity and contributes to T-cell receptor (TCR) mediated activation. Caveolin-1 can bind DPP4, promoting T-cell proliferation and NF-κB activation. Mutations in the CAV1 gene are associated with congenital generalized lipodystrophy 3, pulmonary hypertension primary 3, and partial lipodystrophy/congenital cataracts and neurodegeneration syndrome.
