Product Specific Information

  • Detects endogenous IRS-1 protein at molecular weights of 132 and 180 kDa.

Target Information

IRS-1 is a major substrate of the insulin receptor and is phosphorylated in response to stimulation by insulin, IGF-1, and IL-4. It undergoes phosphorylation on serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues across various tissues.
Casein kinase II mediates a portion of insulin-stimulated phosphorylation of IRS-1. Thr502 and Ser99 are major phosphorylation sites catalyzed by casein kinase II.
IRS-1 also contains three putative 14-3-3 binding sites (Ser270, Ser374, Ser641), with the Ser270 motif located in the phosphotyrosine binding domain responsible for interaction with the insulin receptor.
