This antibody detects endogenous levels of TDP-43 only when phosphorylated at Ser409.
Target Information
TDP-43 is a cellular protein that binds to HIV-1 TAR DNA sequence motifs and acts as a transcriptional repressor of the HIV-1 LTR. It also regulates splicing of exon 9 of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, likely through association with UG repeats at the splice site. A hyperphosphorylated, ubiquitinated, and cleaved form of TDP-43, known as pathologic TDP-43, is the major disease protein in ubiquitin-positive, tau-, and alpha-synuclein-negative frontotemporal dementia (FLTD-U). TDP-43 is distinct from TRBP1, another RNA-binding protein that interacts with HIV-1 TAR RNA sequences.
