This antibody detects endogenous levels of NMDAR2B only when phosphorylated at Ser1303.

Target Information

NMDAR2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors. NMDA receptors (NMDAR) are involved in long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent increase in synaptic transmission efficiency that underlies memory and learning. NMDAR2B plays a role in neuronal development and is implicated in disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death. Overexpression of NR2B is associated with enhanced learning and memory, while reduced NR2B expression correlates with memory impairment. Phosphorylation at Tyr1472 may increase NMDAR expression at synapses, influencing synaptic plasticity. NMDAR2B forms heterotrimers composed of NR1, NR2, and NR3 subunits. Dysfunction of NMDAR2B is associated with epileptic encephalopathy and autosomal dominant mental retardation.
