This antibody detects endogenous levels of MYPT1 only when phosphorylated at Thr696.
Target Information
Myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1), also known as the myosin-binding subunit of myosin phosphatase, is one of the subunits of myosin phosphatase.
Myosin phosphatase regulates actin–myosin interactions downstream of the small GTPase Rho. Activated RhoA (GTP-RhoA) interacts with the myosin-binding subunit (MBS) and activates Rho-associated kinase (Rho-kinase), which phosphorylates and inactivates myosin phosphatase. Overexpression of RhoA or activated RhoA increases phosphorylation of MBS and MLC, leading to smooth muscle contraction and actin–myosin interaction in nonmuscle cells.
Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
