14-3-3 epsilon은 phosphoserine을 포함하는 단백질에 결합하여 신호전달을 매개하는 14-3-3 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 단백질 패밀리는 식물과 포유류 모두에서 고도로 보존되어 있으며, mouse ortholog와 100% 동일합니다.
CDC25 phosphatases, RAF1, IRS1 단백질과 상호작용하며, 세포 분열 및 인슐린 감수성 조절 등 다양한 생화학적 신호전달 활동에 관여합니다. 또한 소세포폐암의 발병과 관련이 있는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
이 유전자는 단백질 코딩과 비코딩 두 가지 전사 변이를 가집니다.
