Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

Target Information
The Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor (LDLR) gene family encodes cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. LDL binds to the cell membrane and is internalized into lysosomes, where it is degraded, releasing cholesterol that suppresses HMG CoA reductase activity—the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis.
Mutations in the LDLR gene cause familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disorder. LDLR, along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and CD81, has also been reported as an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. At least three isoforms of LDLR are known.
