Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages include:

  • High specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

CD86 is one of two ligands (the other CD80) for CTLA4 and CD28. It acts as a costimulatory molecule in eliciting T-cell help during antigen presentation. Insufficient co-stimulation involving CD86/CD80 can induce tolerance.
CD86 is a type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed by antigen-presenting cells. It binds to CD28 and CTLA4 on T cells:

  • Binding with CD28 provides a costimulatory signal for T-cell activation
  • Binding with CTLA4 negatively regulates T-cell activation and diminishes immune response

Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms of CD86. Diseases associated with CD86 dysfunction include gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
