Target Information

YAP (Yes-Associated Protein) is a member of the WW domain family of proteins, functioning as a transcriptional co-activator and oncogene. It is transcriptionally activated in squamous cell carcinoma cells and acts as a coactivator or corepressor in the Hippo signaling pathway.
The Hippo pathway regulates organ size and tumor suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. YAP also plays roles in tissue tension, 3D tissue shape, cell proliferation, cell death, and migration. Mutations in related genes can result in developmental abnormalities such as coloboma.
