SOCS (Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling) 단백질 패밀리는 사이토카인 수용체 신호를 음성 조절하는 Src homology 2 도메인 함유 어댑터 단백질 군입니다. 현재 SOCS-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 및 CIS 등 8종이 알려져 있습니다. SOCS 단백질은 가변적인 N-말단 영역, 중앙의 SH2 도메인, 그리고 C-말단의 SOCS box로 구성되어 있습니다. 이 단백질들은 STAT에 의해 유도되는 전사 메커니즘을 통해 사이토카인 신호 전달을 음성 피드백 방식으로 조절합니다. SOCS 유전자는 사이토카인 자극에 빠르게 전사되며, 각 SOCS 단백질은 다양한 방식으로 신호를 억제합니다.
