Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of AXL only when phosphorylated at Tyr703.
Target Information
AXL is a receptor tyrosine kinase associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia, colon cancer, and melanoma. It mediates signal transduction from the extracellular matrix into the cytoplasm by binding growth factors such as GAS6, promoting cell proliferation. TAM receptors, including AXL, are also involved in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Deficiency in TAM receptors can lead to autoimmune disorders similar to systemic lupus erythematosus. AXL may also function as an entry receptor for filoviruses and serves as a marker for a specific subpopulation of human blood dendritic cells (Siglec 6+/Axl+). Its expression can be upregulated by TLR ligands, and soluble AXL is generated via proteolytic cleavage. Elevated plasma AXL levels may indicate inflammation or cancer.
