Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of NF2 / Merlin only when phosphorylated at Ser13.
Target Information
NF2 encodes a protein, Merlin, that is similar to members of the ERM family, which link cytoskeletal components with cell membrane proteins. Merlin interacts with cell-surface proteins, cytoskeletal regulators, and ion transport proteins. High expression occurs during embryonic development; in adults, it is found in Schwann cells, meningeal cells, lens, and nerve. Mutations in NF2 are associated with neurofibromatosis type II, characterized by nervous system and skin tumors and ocular abnormalities. Multiple isoforms are produced via alternative splicing.
