Target Information

N-cadherin is a 140 kDa transmembrane protein that mediates calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion. It plays a key role in morphogenetic movements during development and regulates cell surface adhesion through homotypic interactions with the same cadherin species.
Its function depends on association with the actin cytoskeleton via interactions between the C-terminal region of N-cadherin and cytoplasmic catenin proteins. The stability of this complex is regulated by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of beta-catenin.
N-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It functions during gastrulation and is essential for establishing left-right asymmetry.
