Product Specific Information
This antibody detects a 105 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of eEF2K on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of mouse C2C12 and Jurkat cells treated with Calyculin A. Reactivity is removed after lambda phosphatase treatment.
Target Information
EEF2K is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is increased in cancers such as breast cancer. EEF2K regulates protein synthesis by controlling peptide chain elongation rate. Upon activation by upstream kinases including AMPK or TRPM7, EEF2K phosphorylates elongation factor EEF2 at a single site, rendering it unable to bind ribosomes and thus reducing protein synthesis rate.
