The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Cystatin C, a member of the type 2 cystatin superfamily, is a potent inhibitor of cysteine proteinases, both endogenous (lysosomal cathepsins) and pathogenic. It is a 13 kDa secreted protein found in high concentrations in biological fluids and expressed by all human nucleated cells. Changes in Cystatin C levels are associated with cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, amyloid angiopathy, and myocardial infarction. Due to its low molecular weight, Cystatin C can also serve as a marker of renal failure.
