Resistin (resistance to insulin), also known as ADSF, is a cysteine-rich, adipose tissue-specific secretory hormone potentially linking obesity to diabetes. It contains a unique cysteine repeat motif shared among resistin-like molecules. Expression is high in proliferative epithelial cells and tumors, suggesting a role in intestinal proliferation.
