Resistin (resistance to insulin), also known as ADSF, is a cysteine-rich, adipose tissue-specific secretory hormone potentially linking obesity to diabetes. It contains a unique cysteine repeat motif shared among resistin-like molecules. Expression is high in proliferative epithelial cells and tumors, suggesting a role in intestinal proliferation.

Resistin (also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor, ADSF, and FIZZ3) is a cytokine secreted by adipocytes with potential paracrine roles and implications in type 2 diabetes.
- Elevated serum resistin levels in obese, diabetic mice antagonize insulin activity.
- Resistin induces insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in mice.
