Product Specific Information

The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells. IFN-γ exhibits antiviral and antiparasitic activity and inhibits proliferation of normal and transformed cells in synergy with other cytokines such as TNF-α.

This antibody is validated for intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis using the Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product # 88-8824-00) and BestProtocols®: Protocol A for cytoplasmic proteins. Recommended usage is 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Alexa Fluor® 700 emits at 723 nm and can be excited with a 633 nm red laser. Instruments typically require a 685 LP mirror and 710/20 filter.

Target Information

IFN-γ (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. Human IFN-γ does not cross-react with mouse IFN-γ.
