Product Specific Information
The VI-PL2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD61 (Integrin β3, GPIIIa), a 90–110 kDa β integrin family member expressed by leukocytes, platelets, endothelial and smooth muscle cells.
CD61 forms heterodimers with α integrins CD41 and CD51, producing αIIbβ3 (CD41/CD61) and αvβ3 (CD51/CD61) complexes that mediate adhesion, trafficking, proliferation, and differentiation.
- CD41/CD61 integrin: involved in platelet aggregation; binds fibrinogen, von Willebrand Factor (vWF), and fibronectin.
- CD51/CD61 integrin: binds vitronectin, fibronectin, vWF, and fibrinogen; regulates endothelial cell migration and survival.
This antibody cross-reacts with canine and several non-human primate species (baboon, rhesus, cynomolgus monkey).

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on human platelets at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that stains a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Fluorochrome characteristics:
PerCP-eFluor® 710 emits at 710 nm and is excited with the 488 nm blue laser.
Recommended filter: 710/50 bandpass (695/40 acceptable). Ensure instrument compatibility.
Fixation:
Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal impact on brightness and compensation.

CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a 105 kDa glycoprotein expressed on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors.
It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin.
CD61 associates with αIIb (CD41) or αV (CD51) integrins to form heterodimers involved in platelet aggregation and cell adhesion signaling.
Disorders associated with CD61 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
