This antibody is predicted to react with rat, non-human primate, and rabbit based on sequence homology.

Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are composed of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies. Each lot is produced with a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability.

Target Information

S100B belongs to the S100 family of calcium-binding proteins with two EF-hand motifs. These proteins are found in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of various cells and regulate processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.
S100B functions include neurite extension, melanoma cell proliferation, Ca²⁺ flux regulation, inhibition of PKC-mediated phosphorylation, astrocytosis, axonal proliferation, and inhibition of microtubule assembly.
Altered expression or chromosomal rearrangements of S100B have been linked to diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, melanoma, and type I diabetes.
