While functionally the same as a polyclonal antibody - recognizing multiple epitope sites on the target and producing higher detection sensitivity for low abundance targets - a recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibody has a known mixture of light and heavy chains. The exact population can be produced in every lot, circumventing the biological variability typically associated with polyclonal antibody production. Target Information

Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 4 (TIMP4) is encoded by the gene TIMP4 located on chromosome 3. It belongs to the family of TIMP genes and is known to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are a group of proteinases that degrade the components of extracellular matrix. TIMP4 irreversibly binds to MMPs and inactivates them with the help of zinc as a cofactor. The netrin domain of TIMP4 is involved in platelet recruitment and aggregation. Other biological functions include response to cytokine and peptide hormone stimuli and involvement with the ovulation cycle and CNS development.
