Antibody detects endogenous levels of ATF6 only when phosphorylated at Thr166.
Target Information
ATF6 is a transcription factor that acts during endoplasmic reticulum stress by activating unfolded protein response target genes. It binds DNA on the 5'-CCAC[GA]-3' half of the ER stress response element (ERSE) and ERSE II, requiring NF-Y binding. ATF6 can form homodimers and heterodimers with ATF6 beta and interacts with NF-YC, GTF2I, YY1, and SRF. Under ER stress, the cleaved N-terminal cytoplasmic domain translocates into the nucleus, functioning as a transcription factor. ATF6 belongs to the bZIP family and is N-glycosylated and phosphorylated in vitro by MAPK14/P38MAPK.
