Product Specific Information
PA1-936 detects myosin VIIa from mouse tissues as well as recombinant protein.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an ~220 kDa protein representing myosin VIIa from mouse testes preparations.
This antibody also detects recombinant mouse myosin VIIa overexpressed in Sf9 insect cell lysate.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 16–31 from mouse myosin VIIa, which is completely conserved in mouse, porcine, and human myosin VIIa.
The immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-045) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
Myosin VIIa is a member of the myosin superfamily of actin-based motor proteins.
Defects in the myosin VIIa gene cause hearing impairment in shaker-1 (sh1) mice and Usher syndrome IB in humans.
Usher syndrome combines congenital deafness, vestibular dysfunction, and retinitis pigmentosa, being the most common form of combined deafness and blindness.
Myosin VIIa protein features include an ATP-binding N-terminal motor domain, a central region with five IQ motifs, and a C-terminal domain containing three MyTH4 and talin-like homology regions.
