Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the neurotrophin family, which regulates the survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons. It is closely related to nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. This protein may play a role in maintaining the adult nervous system and influence neuronal development in embryos. NTF3-deficient mice show severe limb movement defects. The mature peptide sequence is conserved among mammals, including human, pig, rat, and mouse.
