Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of TOB1 only when phosphorylated at Ser164.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the tob/btg1 family of anti-proliferative proteins that regulate cell growth. When expressed exogenously, TOB1 suppresses cell growth in tissue culture. The protein is phosphorylated by serine/threonine kinase, 90 kDa ribosomal S6 kinase. Interaction with v-erb-b2 erythroblastic leukemia viral oncogene homolog 2 (p185) interferes with growth suppression. TOB1 inhibits T cell proliferation and transcription of cytokines and cyclins, and interacts with SMAD2 and SMAD4 to enhance DNA binding activity, thereby inhibiting interleukin 2 transcription in T cells.
