Target Information
TSC2 (Tuberin, Tuberous sclerosis complex, TSC Complex Subunit 2) is a tumor suppressor protein involved in vesicular transport, regulation of cell growth arrest, and transcription mediated by steroid receptors.
TSC2 forms a cytosolic complex with hamartin, potentially acting as a chaperone. Phosphorylation at Ser939 and Thr1462 regulates the TSC2-hamartin interaction via the PI3K/Akt pathway.
TSC2 stimulates the intrinsic GTPase activity of RAP1A and RAB5, contributing to cell growth regulation.
Mutations in TSC2 are associated with diseases such as lymphangioleiomyomatosis and TSC2 angiomyolipoma. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
