Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody 25H11 recognizes mouse Ephrin B1, a 47 kDa membrane protein. Ephrin B1 belongs to a family of ephrins composed of type A (linked to the cell membrane through a glycosylphosphatidyl inositol group) or type B (transmembrane) proteins.
Type B ephrins (B1, B2, B3) contain cytoplasmic domains with tyrosine residues that can be phosphorylated. Ephrin B and Eph B receptors interact to potentiate bidirectional downstream signaling between cells expressing either or both ligand and receptor.

Ephrins play roles in:

  • Neural crest cell development
  • Neurogenesis and neural migration
  • Kidney and heart cyto-architecture development

Overexpression of type B ephrins in cancer cells is associated with increased vascularity and invasiveness.

Applications Reported:

  • Immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections
  • Immunoprecipitation

Applications Tested:
Tested on frozen mouse kidney tissue sections at ≤10 µg/mL. Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Purity: >90% (SDS-PAGE)
Aggregation: <10% (HPLC)
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered

Target Information

Ephrin B1 is a cell surface transmembrane ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases crucial for migration, repulsion, and adhesion during neuronal, vascular, and epithelial development.
It binds promiscuously to Eph receptors on adjacent cells, enabling contact-dependent bidirectional signaling.
Forward signaling occurs downstream of the receptor, while reverse signaling occurs downstream of the ephrin ligand.

Binding Partners: EPHA4, EPHA3, EPHB4
Biological Roles:

  • Heart morphogenesis and angiogenesis (with EPHB4)
  • Regulation of cell adhesion and migration
  • Axon orientation control
