Product Specific Information

This KMC912 monoclonal antibody reacts with human progesterone receptor (PgR, PR), a nuclear receptor that regulates transcription in a ligand-dependent manner. The human PgR exists in alpha (94 kDa) and beta (120 kDa) forms, typically forming heterodimers. Binding of progestin induces conformational changes, enabling DNA binding through progestin response elements (PRE) and regulating gene expression.

PgR expression in breast tissue correlates with improved survival and endocrine therapy response. Altered PgRa:PgRb ratios are associated with cancer progression, including ductal carcinoma and uterine cancer.

Applications Reported: Suitable for intracellular staining, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry (FFPE), microscopy, and immunocytochemistry.

Target Information

The progesterone receptor (PR) is a steroid nuclear receptor mediating progesterone effects in reproduction. Exists as 94 kDa (Form A) and 120 kDa (Form B) proteins. PR-B activates genes for endometrial maintenance and ovulation inhibition, while PR-A acts as a transcriptional repressor due to an N-terminal deletion exposing an inhibitory domain.

Binding of progesterone induces receptor dimerization and DNA interaction at PRE sequences, activating transcription. Mutations in the PGR gene can cause reproductive abnormalities.
