Product Specific Information

This 4SM95 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, a subset of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and is essential for T cell development and function. In T cells, CD4 associates with protein tyrosine kinase p56lck via its cytoplasmic domain.

The 4SM95 antibody is not recommended for immunohistochemistry of frozen mouse tissue. For frozen tissue detection, refer to alternate products:

Applications Reported:
Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections and microscopy.

Applications Tested:
Tested by IHC (P) using low pH antigen retrieval, optimal at ≤20 µg/mL. Titrate antibody for best performance.

Fluorochrome Information:
eFluor® 660 replaces Alexa Fluor® 647. It emits at 659 nm and is excited by a red laser (633 nm). Ensure instrument compatibility.

Target Information

CD4 is a co-receptor for MHC class II molecules and HIV receptor, primarily expressed on T helper cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, brain, and gut. CD4 mediates T-cell activation via association with Lck kinase and may also contribute to neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
