Product Specific Information
For western blotting applications, we recommend using the antibody at a 1:1,000 starting dilution.
Positive controls used in western blotting were:
- Human epidermoid carcinoma A431 cells
- Mouse NIH3T3 cells
- Rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells
Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed and play key roles in regulating meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells.
They are activated by various stimuli including:
- Growth factors
- Cytokines
- Virus infection
- Ligands for G protein-coupled receptors
- Transforming agents
Upon activation, Raf phosphorylates MEK1/2, which in turn phosphorylates ERK1/2. Activated ERKs either phosphorylate cytoplasmic targets or migrate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
