Target Information

Arg3.1 (ARC) is a master regulator of synaptic plasticity that self-assembles into virion-like capsids encapsulating RNAs, mediating intercellular RNA transfer in the nervous system. ARC protein is released from neurons via extracellular vesicles, transferring ARC mRNA into target cells for activity-dependent translation.
It plays a key role in long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), and memory formation by regulating AMPA receptor endocytosis and synaptic scaling. Additionally, ARC mediates synapse elimination in developing cerebellum and contributes to neuronal homeostasis.
ARC is also involved in postsynaptic trafficking of amyloid-beta A4 (APP) and expressed in skin-migratory dendritic cells, regulating T-cell activation through dendritic cell migration.
