Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The MRP5 (Multidrug Resistance-associated Protein 5) is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. These proteins transport various molecules across cellular membranes and are divided into seven subfamilies: ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, and White.

MRP5 is part of the MRP subfamily involved in multidrug resistance and functions in the cellular export of cyclic nucleotides. This export contributes to phosphodiesterase degradation and may serve as an elimination pathway for cyclic nucleotides. MRP5 confers resistance to thiopurine anticancer drugs (6-mercaptopurine, thioguanine) and the anti-HIV drug 9-(2-phosphonylmethoxyethyl)adenine. It may play a role in thiopurine resistance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia and resistance to antiretroviral nucleoside analogs in HIV-infected patients. Alternative splicing of this gene has been detected, though the complete sequence and translation initiation site remain unclear.
