Target Information
SLC16A4 encodes a proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter that facilitates the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids (from leucine, valine, and isoleucine), and ketone bodies including acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and acetate.
