Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
SIP1 is a component of the SMN complex, which includes the survival of motor neuron (SMN) protein and multiple gemin proteins. This complex is localized in subnuclear structures called gems (gemini of coiled bodies) and plays a critical role in the assembly of spliceosomal snRNPs and pre-mRNA splicing. SIP1 directly interacts with SMN and is essential for SMN complex formation. Mouse knockout studies indicate disrupted snRNP assembly and motor neuron degeneration, suggesting SIP1 may have additional roles beyond the SMN complex.
