Target Information

Protein NUMB homolog is an evolutionarily conserved protein that regulates the differentiation of neuronal progenitor cells. It functions in clathrin-dependent endocytosis by binding to the AP-2 complex. NUMB is expressed in postmitotic neurons and contributes to axonal growth. Neural cells expressing Numb isoforms with short phosphotyrosine-binding (SPTB) domains exhibit extensive neurite outgrowth, which can be inhibited by voltage-gated Ca²⁺ channel blockers or Ca²⁺ chelators.
