Target Information
The oncogene BCL2 encodes a membrane protein that inhibits apoptosis (programmed cell death). The BCL2-associated athanogene (BAG1L) binds to BCL2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effects and linking growth factor receptors to cell survival mechanisms.
At least three isoforms are produced from this mRNA via alternative translation initiation sites, including a non-AUG (CUG) start site.
